China’s recent announcement to allow visa-free entry for citizens from six additional European countries has sparked excitement and anticipation among travellers and businesses alike. The decision, revealed by Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the National People’s Congress meeting in Beijing, marks a significant step towards facilitating easier travel and fostering international relations.

Starting from March 14, citizens of Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg will be granted a visa-free stay of up to 15 days in China, covering various purposes including business, tourism, family visits, and transit. This move comes in addition to the previous extension of visa-free travel to citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, further enhancing connectivity between China and Europe.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized during the press conference, “I would like to inform you that starting from March 14, China will further implement the visa-free policy for Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg on a trial basis.”

Furthermore, Annell highlights that “In the foreign business community, there’s already a noticeable increase in interest and business travel to China among nationalities that already enjoy visa-free travel”.
